Private Recipes
Private Recipes is a pipeline, not a new PDF engine. Drop files once, order the same local tools you already use, then download one result. Saved recipes store step options only.
Privacy and offline checks
Document processing runs locally in supported PDFForge workflows. This panel is a diagnostic view; it cannot prove that no data left the device.
Observed resource activity
0 observations in this page session · 0 need inspection
Resource timing is unavailable in this browser. Use the independent checks below.
Page timing and the active service worker report different surfaces and may observe the same request. Worker activity can be incomplete; WebSockets, request bodies and extensions are outside this view. The latest 60 sanitized observations stay in memory only. URLs, filenames, query strings, document content and byte counts are not recorded here.
Verify independently in DevTools
- Use a clean browser profile and synthetic documents. Open Network in DevTools and enable Preserve log.
- Prepare offline below. Switch Network to Offline, then reload the saved workspace and select a new file.
- Inspect, redact, run output checks and download. Inspect failed requests and request payloads, including worker requests. A same-site request can still transmit data.
- Inspect Application or Storage. Cache Storage should contain public app assets and setup records only. Document recovery and content telemetry are disabled; recipe settings are saved only after opt-in.
Offline readiness
Full workspace not prepared for offline use
English OCR not prepared for offline use
Prepare while connected to save the workspace, tools, fonts and workers. English OCR is optional. Only public app assets are saved; documents, outputs and passwords are excluded. Browser storage can be cleared or evicted. Check saved assets before disconnecting and prepare again after an app update.

Recipe steps
Drop files once, then chain tools that output a PDF. Split, images, extract, and redact stay as separate workspaces.
Send externally
Strip metadata, redact confirmed PII, flatten, watermark, and password-protect a copy you can send. Add a password before you run it.
Clean a copy
Strip document properties, attachments, scripts, form values, and image EXIF.
Redact a copy
Find emails, phones, and IDs, redact the confirmed hits, then flatten the pages.
Number a packet
Merge the PDFs you drop, then add page numbers.
No steps yet.
Save settings on this device
Optional. Only step types and non-secret options are stored. PDFs, filenames, and passwords are never written to localStorage. Downloading JSON exports the same recipe settings to a local file. Importing a JSON file only reads it in this tab; it does not save or run the recipe.
Private by design. Document processing runs in this browser. PDFForge has no document upload API.
How it works
How Private Recipes works
Private Recipes is a pipeline, not a new PDF engine. Drop files once, order the same local tools you already use, then download one result. Saved recipes store step options only.
Guided steps
How to use Private Recipes
- 1Add one or more PDFs. Reorder them if you will merge.
- 2Add pipeline steps. Merge first for multiple files; password protect last.
- 3Run the recipe locally and download the output.
- 4Optionally opt in to save settings on this device. Passwords are never stored.
In this tab
What stays in this browser
The file stays in this tab.
- What this tool reads
- The PDFs you drop, the steps in the recipe, and any password you type for a protect step. An optional settings save stores the recipe only.
- What the download contains
- One PDF from the recipe, plus the before and after hashes shown on the page.
Questions
Private Recipes FAQs
Does a recipe upload my PDFs?
No. The chain runs in the same-origin worker already used by Merge, Edit, Sanitize, Flatten, and Protect.
What is saved if I opt in?
Step types and non-secret options in localStorage. Not PDFs, filenames, extracted text, or passwords.
Why are split and redact missing?
Those tools produce ZIP archives, images, or page-region selections that do not chain as a single PDF buffer. Use their dedicated workspaces.
